Seth has led the Immortal Guardians for thousands of years. With them fighting by his side, he has protected humans from psychotic vampires, defeated corrupt mercenary armies, defended military bases under attack, and more. But the latest enemy to rise against the Immortal Guardians has proven to be a formidable one, wielding almost as much power as Seth. His goal is simple. He wants to watch the world burn. And he will use every means at his disposal to accomplish it. Seth and his Immortal Guardians have succeeded thus far in staving off Armageddon despite heartbreaking losses. But they have never before faced such danger. Seth has only one wish: to protect his Immortal Guardians family and ensure the continuation of humanity by defeating his foe. But then Leah walks into his life and sparks a new desire.
Leah Somerson has suffered losses of her own. It has taken her a long time to rebuild her life and find some semblance of peace. Then one night a tall, dark, powerful immortal with what appears to be the weight of the world on his shoulders stumbles into her shop, and everything changes. Peace and contentment are no longer enough. Now she wants more. She wants to find happiness. She wants to erase the darkness in Seth’s eyes and replace it with love and laughter. She knows he’s different in ways that make most fear him. Even some of his immortal brethren keep a careful distance. But Leah will not. Nor will she shy away when danger strikes.

And now for the interview...
Hello! Thank you for joining me. I’m very excited to be here at Lady with a Quill, celebrating the release of DEATH OF DARKNESS, the latest book in my Immortal Guardians series. If you love powerful immortal heroes who adore strong women, heroines who can kick-ass, and a lot of action, passion and humor mixed into your romance, then I think you’ll enjoy this book. Don’t worry if you’re new to the series. Each Immortal Guardians book can be read as a stand-alone novel or novella. You’ll just be more familiar with the secondary characters if you read them in order.
Today I thought I would help you get to know some of my Immortal Guardians family through a character interview with Zach and Lisette—two Immortal Guardians who are close to Seth in DEATH OF DARKNESS. Sheldon, one of the mortals in my series, will conduct the interview.
Sheldon: Thanks for sitting down with me today.
Lisette: Our pleasure.
Zach: I’m fielding some of Seth’s calls, so we may be interrupted.
Sheldon: Okay. Let’s see how quickly we can do this then. A LOT has been happening in the Immortal Guardians’ world lately.
Sheldon: Kinda makes you miss the nights when all you did was hunt psychotic vampires, doesn’t it?
Lisette: Yes. Doing the same old—same old night after night did grow boring after a couple of centuries. But I would rather be bored than watch some of my brethren come to harm.
Sheldon: Lisette, for the newbies at the Network, would you explain what a gifted one is?
Lisette: Gifted ones are mortals who were born with advanced DNA that lends them various and assorted gifts ordinary humans lack.
Sheldon: You were once a gifted one yourself before your transformation.
Sheldon: Vampires are humans who have been infected with the vampiric virus, and immortals are gifted ones who are infected, right?
Lisette: Right. Humans infected with the virus suffer progressive brain damage that drives them insane. The advanced DNA of gifted ones protects us from the more corrosive aspects of the virus, so we don’t lose our sanity and instead become immortal. Under Seth’s leadership, we have dedicated our lives to protecting humanity by hunting down the psychotic vampires who would prey upon them.
Sheldon: Even though humanity has no idea that vampires and immortals exist?
Lisette: Even so.
Sheldon: Well, everyone at the Network knows and appreciates everything you do. So thank you.
Lisette: *smiles* We couldn’t do it without the aid of mortals like yourself who work for the Network.
Sheldon: Thanks. Can you tell us what your gifts are?
Lisette: I’m a relatively young immortal, only two centuries old give or take a few decades. So my bloodline has been more diluted by ordinary human DNA over the millennia. As a result, I only have one gift—telepathy.
Sheldon: So you can read minds?
Sheldon: You aren’t reading MY mind, are you?
Lisette: No. I learned long ago that it’s best to stay out of your thoughts. *feigns a shudder*
Sheldon: Oh, ha, ha, ha. No comments about my sexual history, please. Zach, you’re an ancient immortal. You’re as old as Seth or thereabouts, but not quite as powerful.
Zach: No one is as powerful as Seth.
Sheldon: What are some of your gifts?
Zach: I’m telepathic like Lisette.
Sheldon: *glances at Lisette* Do you guys talk dirty to each other telepathically?
Lisette: *winks* He’s talking dirty to me right now.
Sheldon: Dude. Wait until the interview is over. What else can you do, Zach? What gifts do you and Seth have in common?
Sheldon: You can move things with your mind? *yelps as his chair flies out from under him, landing him on his butt on the floor*
Zach and Lisette: *laugh*
Sheldon: *sends Zach a disgruntled look as he picks up his chair and sits down* I’ll take that as a yes. What else can you do?
Zach: Shape-shift into any form I choose.
Sheldon: Would you—?
Sheldon: I was just going to ask if you’d—
Sheldon: What about—?
Zach: No. I don’t care what animal I shift into, I’m not giving you a ride. *sends Lisette a wicked smile* YOU, on the other hand, may ride me anytime you want.
Sheldon: So… vampires aren’t the only enemies Immortal Guardians have fought in recent years. You’ve also had some run-ins with mercenaries.
Zach: I wouldn’t call them run-ins. They were more like massive collisions.
Sheldon: And suffered some losses, both immortal and human.
Lisette: *nods somberly*
Sheldon: A couple of times the military has even come into play.
Lisette: That can be tricky.
Sheldon: Even when you’re saving their asses. Have the Immortal Guardians ever faced an enemy as dangerous as the one you’re facing now?
Sheldon: What’s different about this one?
Lisette: He’s ancient. Powerful.
Zach: But not as powerful as Seth.
Lisette: He’s also cunning.
Zach: And the first enemy who has dared to raise his own army of immortals.
Lisette: He bears a terrifying animosity toward Seth as well. *shakes her head* He will strike at him in any way he possibly can.
Sheldon: And yet, in the middle of all this, something pretty astonishing has happened.
Lisette: *smiles* You mean Leah.
Zach: *lips twitch* Astonishing and endlessly entertaining.
Sheldon: You’re loving this, aren’t you?
Zach: Hell yes. Immortal Guardians have viewed their austere, illustrious leader as something of a father figure for millennia. They’ve never seen “daddy” behave the way he does with Leah, and it’s shocking the hell out of them.
Lisette: *grins* My jaw has dropped on numerous occasions.
Zach: *laughs* Yours and everyone else’s.
Sheldon: While you’ve been laughing your ass off?
Zach: Absolutely. It’s hilarious.
Sheldon: And long overdue?
Zach: *nods* Seth has dedicated himself to leading the Immortal Guardians and doing whatever he can to help them find happiness and contentment in what can otherwise be a pretty dark existence while they keep humanity safe. He deserves to find happiness of his own.
Lisette: And Leah has brought him that happiness. I’ve never seen him smile or laugh as much as he has since he met her. She’s perfect for him.
Zach: *nods* She’s exactly what he needed.
Sheldon: And she’s strong.
Lisette: *winks at her husband* Immortal males are always drawn to strong women.
Zach: Hell yes we are. I love watching you kick ass.
Sheldon: Great. Now his eyes are glowing.
Lisette: *laughs* Seth has exercised such rigid self-control all these years while he watched over us.
Zach: Then Leah came along and blew that control all to hell.
Lisette: *sends Zach a flirty glance* Much like I did yours.
Sheldon: Great. Now his eyes are glowing even brighter. Zach, is it true that—when you met Lisette—you were… you know…
Zach: *arches a brow*
Sheldon: *whispers* A virgin?
Zach: *lips twitch* Yes.
Lisette: He sure as hell didn’t make love like a virgin. *eyes begin to glow bright amber* Thousands of years of suppressed passion unleashed in one night…
Zach: *leans over and kisses her neck* Not just one night.
Lisette: *shivers* EVERY night. How you make me burn…
Sheldon: You guys know I’m still sitting here, right?
Zach: *reaches into a back pocket and retrieves his cell phone, but doesn’t look at it* Looks like we’re needed elsewhere.
Sheldon: Dude, your phone did NOT ring.
Zach: *rises, pulling Lisette up with him* Seth is summoning me telepathically.
Sheldon: No, he isn’t. Seth is with Leah.
Zach: Chris Reordon wants to see us down at Network headquarters.
Sheldon: We’re AT Network headquarters.
Lisette: *stifles a laugh*
Zach: *scowls at Sheldon* In thirty seconds, I’m going to be naked with my wife. You can stay or you can—
Sheldon: *jumps up* I’m out. Thanks for the interview.
