Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairy tale, so I was very excited to read this story! It did not disappoint. I thought the world building was done very well, and I could visualize everything clearly. The romance was also nice, developing at a good pace with the story.
Omorose has magic that allows her to bring life to the earth. She can grow flowers, trees, vines, etc. But when she was seven years old, her world and the human world collided, and she had to suppress her magic. The human world greatly feared magic and would have destroyed her. Fast forward ten years, and she is still struggling to keep her magic in check. When she finally can't stand the pressure and pain any longer, she leaves and seeks out the one person in the human world who might accept her as she is - the Beast. The Beast is a young man named Cole, who is very much like the fairy tale Beast. He's surly, often hairy, and he roars a lot. But he knows why Omorose's magic hurts so much, and together they must work to return magic to its rightful place.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fairy tales! It was a wonderful retelling, and it appears to be leading to more books in the series. I am very excited to read them.
