Favorite Books of 2020: A Look Back

What a crazy year 2020 has been! The game of Jumanji still seems to be going strong, but hopefully 2021 will finally see an end to the madness. I didn't read nearly as many books as I hoped to, with my total read count being less than 150, and I normally read around 250. However, the books I did read were so amazing, and I was grateful to have the distraction of my blog when times were tough. This year I had five favorite books, and I'm excited to present them all to you now, along with my favorite quotes.

The Duke of Diamonds - Emily Windsor

"I repeat, I am simply too busy."

"Doing what?" Ernest threw his arms about like a Shakespearean actor, and Casper snapped.

"Supporting a feckless brother, a drunken old roue of an uncle, some one thousand tenants, four estates, a bloody great castle, three townhouses, four hundred servants - upper and lower, two shipping interests, three factories, my diamond concerns, and having to procure two sofas with ten matching chairs at a cost of three hundred and eighty-two pounds including covers to replace the ones Ernest and his friends destroyed last month."

Silence blanketed the room for approximately-

"I'm not old," murmured Uncle Virgil.

Temper - Chantal Fernando

"When are you going to forgive me?"

"I don't know, what's the going time to hold a grudge on kidnapping?" I ask, arching my brow. "Probably twenty-five to life."

The Kissing Tree - Karen Witemeyer, Regina Jennings, Amanda Dykes, and Nicole Deese

"It's this tree that brought us together," Adam said, "and I'm going to predict that our love will be as rooted and strong as it is."

"The oak of shame?" she asked.

"Oh no. That episode is forgotten. As of today, it'll have a new name." His gaze darkened as it met hers. "This oak is now known as the Kissing Tree."

Bella smiled. "Then it had better start living up to its name."

In the Dark with the Duke - Christi Caldwell

"Look at me, Lila March." His was a harsh, graveled command, more captivating for the coarse roughness of that order. She brought her gaze to his. "Don't you ever doubt your beauty." His eyes pierced her. "I forbid it."

Her Wicked Marquess - Stacy Reid

"You want me to kiss you," the devil murmured.

"I once wanted a pet skunk, too."
