Every mortal who works at network headquarters knows that vampires reside below them. They were the first to surrender to the powerful Immortal Guardians who hunt them. And they did so, hoping they can be saved, that the doctors and scientists the Immortal Guardians employ can halt the progressive brain damage that robs all vampires of their sanity. Though curious, Emma never thought she would meet any of the vampires who remain under heavy guard several stories beneath her office. Then mercenaries strike, bombarding the building with heavy artillery. The vampires are freed to join the fray... and Cliff saves her life.

From that moment on, she can't stop thinking about him regardless of the restrictions placed on interactions with vampires. When Emma discovers a way to speak to Cliff at network headquarters, she becomes even more fascinated by him. He's smart, charming, and honorable to his core despite the darkness that lies ahead. And he seems to crave her company as much as she does his. Aware of the eyes that watch them, they keep their encounters innocent, limiting them to those of mere acquaintances. Nevertheless, their attraction grows and she soon falls in love with him even as the madness begins to claim him.

Cliff realizes his future is dark. As one vampire friend after another succumbs to insanity, hope that network doctors will be able to find a cure in time to keep him from meeting the same fate begins to dwindle, leaving him little to look forward to... until he meets Emma. Just speaking to her brings him a happiness and contentment he hasn't experienced since before his transformation. And when they finally find a way to be alone together, everything changes. Emma burrows her way right into his heart and quiets the voices. She sparks dreams of a future with her that strengthen his determination to beat back the madness. But as time passes, the voices grow louder and insanity begins to chip away at him until he fears it will eradicate every part of him she fell in love with.

Will the two of them find a way to defy the odds and find their happily-ever-after? Or will Cliff's descent consume him?

Top 5 Reasons to Love Emma

Hello! Thanks so much for joining us! I’m very happy to be here at Lady with a Quill, celebrating the release of CLIFF’S DESCENT. If you like paranormal romance with strong heroes who love strong heroines, action scenes that will keep you flipping pages well past your bedtime, and romance that is steamy, sweet, and laced with humor, then I think you’ll enjoy this book.

To give you an idea of what you’ll find in CLIFF’S DESCENT, I thought I would share 5 Reasons I think you’ll love Emma.

She’s strong.

Emma settled herself sideways on Cliff’s lap and pulled his arms around her. “You’re strong, Cliff.” She held out an arm, flexed her biceps in an exaggerated show of muscle, and arched a brow. “I’m strong, too.”

His expression lightened. “Yes, you are.”

“Together, we can do anything. We can fight this. We can beat this. Even though you may think it’s futile, we have to give Melanie and the other doctors more time.” She pressed a tender kiss to his lips. “I know it’s hard, honey, and that things may get worse. But I’ll be here to help you through it. All of it.” She kissed him again. “I’m not going anywhere.”

Those eyes of his brightened further as he dipped his head and claimed her lips in a longer, deeper kiss.

She has a fun sense of humor.

“Cliff? What is it?”

A huge smiled dawned. “The voices.”

“What about them?”

“They’re gone.”

Confusion rose. “I thought hunting quieted the voices.”

He shook his head. “Hunting just lowers the volume, which really helps. But you…” He stroked her face, the love and happiness that shone in his eyes piercing her heart. “You eradicated them, Emma. They’re completely quiet now.”

And she’d thought she couldn’t love him more.

“Wow.” She winked. “I must really be good in bed.”

He barked out a laugh. “You are. You definitely are.”

She’s brave.

An alarm began to blare. Wonk! Wonk! Wonk!

“Code red! Code red!” Mr. Reordon shouted over the building’s intercom system.

“Oh sh**.” Emma scrambled to her feet. During the drills, Mr. Reordon always said he would only issue that order if the network fell under attack.

Cynthia stared at her, frozen in fear.

Emma hurried around the desk and grabbed her friend’s arm. “We have to go. Now!” Yanking

Cynthia up, she propelled her out into the hallway.

More explosions rocked the building. Screams and shouts filled the voids between. A crush of bodies flooded the corridor as employees stumbled out of their offices and headed for the elevator and stairwell at the far end.

“Go with the others!” Emma shouted over the noise that now included rapid gunfire as well. She gave Cynthia a push in the right direction, then turned away.

Cynthia grabbed her hand. “What are you doing? You have to come with us!”

Emma shook her head. “I have to get Sadie!” The elderly woman treated everyone under the age of sixty as if they were her grandchildren. She even baked them cookies. And though her mind and wit were sharp, her body was frail.

Understanding dawned in Cynthia’s expression. “I’ll come with you!”

“No. We’ll catch up. You go! Check on Jasmine and Chloe on the way!” Both women were hugely pregnant.

Eyes widening, Cynthia gave a jerky nod. “I’ll get them out! Be safe!”

“You, too!”

She’s passionate.

Sliding her arms around Cliff, she flattened her hands on the muscles of his broad back, his smooth skin warm beneath her fingers, the intimate feel of bare flesh against bare flesh merely heightening her need.

A deep growl of approval rumbled up from his chest as he urged her tighter against him, breasts to chest. Abs to muscled abs. Hips to hips.

Excitement skittered through her. He felt so good. And damn, he could kiss. She didn’t think she’d ever been so turned on by the press of lips or the stroke of a tongue. But Cliff set her on fire.

She’d wanted him for so long.

The muscles of his back flexed beneath her fingers as she caressed them.

And now, it would seem, she could have him.

She’s fiercely protective of Cliff and will do anything it takes to help him win his battle with insanity.

Closing the distance between them, he cupped her face in his big hands and stared down at her with a tender smile that sent warmth coursing through her. “I can’t believe you were going to run away with me,” he said softly, his face full of awe and love and so much more.

She swallowed hard. “I still would if you asked me to.”

I hope you’ll enjoy CLIFF’S DESCENT!
