Book Review: Let Sleeping Dukes Lie by Emily Windsor

The fiery spirit of an Irish lass and the tightly leashed passion of an English lord collide in yet another brilliant tale by Emily Windsor! I was eager to read the story of these two characters after their interactions in the first book. It's always entertaining to read historical romances where the heroine is not afraid to speak her mind, and we certainly get that in this book. The author did a great job of pulling you in with witty lines and a simmering passion that leaves you wanting more by the time you reach the last page. Miss Aideen Quinlan tries very hard to be a true lady, but the restrictions placed on her by society make it difficult beyond belief. Driving her family crazy and causing many eye rolls among her friends, Aideen is used to keeping people on their toes. And there is no one she likes riling more than Alexander Westhide, the Duke of Rakecombe. Alex feels a lot of...something...for Aideen, but whether it lust or aggravation depends on the situation. Sometimes it's a little bit of both. After saving Aideen from a kidnapping a year ago, he hasn't been able to get her out of his mind, and now that she's back in his life again, he may not be able to let her go. Even if her life may very well depend on it. Aideen was a riot throughout this book! I greatly enjoyed her personality, constantly giving the reader awesome comebacks to file away for when we might need to respond to a situation on the fly. I also loved her many Irish jokes and references, as I don't know very many personally, and it was great fun learning through her. Alex tried so hard to be stuffy, but in Aideen's presence, it just wasn't going to happen. Even when he pushes her away to the point where I thought for sure they were finished, her stubborn personality forces him to show his true feelings. He couldn't hide from her, and I think that's a great thing to have in a relationship. Too many secrets and it all falls apart - if couples love each other, they should also trust each other. Aideen and Alex definitely were a prime example of that. I can't wait to read the next book in the series! It's sure to be a lot of fun. **I received a free copy from the author and this is my honest review.**
