Book Review: Rescued by the Wolf by Sasha Summers

A thrilling, heart-pounding tale of werewolves, betrayal, and love! Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I had to know what happened to Mal and Olivia, even if it meant not leaving my room for several hours as I blew through the pages. A bit dark in places and scary as heck in others, it's not a book for the faint of heart, but it is a book for those who like strength and perseverance in the face of tragedy and loss. Mal is almost at his limit. Spending months at the mercy of the Others, led by a psychopath named Cyrus, he is at his breaking point. But now he has Olivia Chase to protect - a strong, witty young woman who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Escaping their cages and running from Cyrus, Olive and Chase come face-to-face with their worst fears. If Mal is to save Olivia, he must confront his Wolf, that being within him ever since he was bitten and changed. His Wolf knows that Olivia is his, but Mal is having none of it. When Olivia's life is threatened further, Mal must make a terrible choice, and the consequences could be both his salvation and his demise. The best part of this book was the dialogue between Mal and Olivia. I often read books where the two main characters snarl at each other, and predictably, their hate turns to love as the book progresses. With Mal and Olivia, it wasn't hate but rather mutual distrust. In Mal's case, he wasn't sure if he could trust Olivia at first, but over time, it appears that he trusts himself around her even less. Olivia just believes she's been kidnapped and knows nothing of werewolves or the Others. She takes it all in stride though, past the initial bout of denial, and lying underneath her fear and bravado is a solid strength. This is what Mal eventually falls in love with, despite his Wolf constantly growling at him that she is his Mate. It's more than just lust or fate - it's love in its truest form. Self-sacrificing and hits you right in the heart. This was my first book by Sasha Summers, and I am sure it won't be the last! It is unique, thrilling, and a page-turner you will have a hard time putting down, even after the last page. **I received a free copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.**
