Book Review: Stolen Time by Chloé Duval

Amazon | Barnes and Noble | Kobo

One of the most romantic stories I have read so far this year! Chloé Duval reeled me in with her beautiful writing and amazing characters, and I stayed connected throughout the entire book. I started reading it around 8:30am and I finished in two hours. I could not put it down! A history teacher by day and a romance writer by night, Flavie Richalet is a sweet soul easily captured by the past and yearning for love in the future. When a mysterious letter arrives on her doorstep, address to Lili, she instantly recognizes that she has stumbled across a story that will stay with her forever. The letter was written 45 years ago, by a young man who signs only with the letter E, and it speaks of a romance thwarted by distance and time. Setting out to find Lili and E, Flavie embarks on a journey that will change her life forever, to where love is not bound by time and life be afforded a second chance. I can’t say enough about the way the author wrote her characters! She illustrated perfectly the various people we meet throughout our lives, from the busybody friends who live vicariously through us to strangers who create our home-away-from-home. Flavie alone was a joy to read about, with her knitting club and her antique dealer father. As someone who loves history and has a deep passion for antiques, I connected well with the type of person Flavie is. Although her ambition for writing took me aback at times, as I don’t know if I would have had the courage to ask to write someone else’s story, she handled delicate circumstances with kindness and a gentle hand. Her connection with the handsome Romeric was icing on top of a perfect story – they fell in love over the course of a few days, and their chemistry leapt off the pages and into my heart. The romantic in me felt like she had died and gone to heaven. If you are a fan of star-crossed lovers or lost love letters, you will love this book! It has all the makings of a Hallmark Channel movie, so look out. If it’s not this book, I am sure another book by Chloé Duval will eventually hit the big screen. I know I will be waiting eagerly to read more books by this author. **I received a free copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.**
