Book Review: An Elegant Facade by Kristi Ann Hunter

Amazon Kindle | Amazon Paperback | Barnes and Noble | Kobo

Kristi Ann Hunter has done it again! This book almost beats her first book, but A Noble Masquerade still holds my heart. This story picks up about halfway through the first book, but we see everything from the perspective of secondary-turned-primary characters - Georgina Hawthorne and Colin McCrae. Their encounters were humorous, and you really do fall in love with Colin right along with Georgina. Well, I fell in love WAY before Georgina, but she eventually caught up. Georgina is known as a Diamond among the people of the ton, and she is on the hunt for a husband. And not just any husband - he must be above reproach, wealthy, and titled. Colin McCrae is wealthy, but he is Scottish with no title. Despite his charm and manners, Georgina quickly writes him off, but Colin is smitten. Even though he realizes the impossibility of a match between them, he is continuously drawn to Georgina. And when he realizes her heartbreaking secret, he can't help but try to help. Even if you haven't read the first book, you can absolutely read and enjoy this book. If you have read the first book, it may be a bit difficult or frustrating to get through the first half of the story. It recaps things for a good portion of the book. However, once you reach the point where the first book left off, it's thrilling to see how things progress! It's not too hard to dislike Georgina, despite understanding why she is the way she is, but Colin is amazing. My new book boyfriend. Hands off, people! The religious components of this book are pretty light for the most part, but it gets rather heavy towards the end. It may be a bit much for readers who aren't overly religious, but it's still heartwarming to see the effect of God's word on someone's life. I encourage you to read this book! Even if you find this book is not your favorite, you must try the first book and any future books. Kristi Ann Hunter has captured me in the way Karen Witemeyer did only a few years ago. I am excited for her next book! **I received a free copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.**
